Thank you Mama Ru’s for the best holiday ever. We stayed for 2 weeks in March and it was perfect. The next time we go back to Rarotonga we would only stay at Mama Ru’s. The Bungalow has everything you need and its right on the beach. The beach is just amazing, you have to see to believe it, very quiet so its perfect for relaxing. The water in the lagoon is crystal clear and perfect for snorkeling, the best on the island if you ask me. Wigmores store is just a 2 min walk down the road where you can get anything you need. There is a really nice Restaurant down the road, Vaima, the food and cocktails there are very good and the best is you can have dinner on the beach. Wendy made us feel very welcome and was always there when we needed anything (snorkeling gear, kayak etc). Can’t wait to go back there, hopefully it won’t be to long. Thank you again for the great holiday.

I just finished my stay at Mama Ru’s and am back in snowy Queenstown.

I wanted to let you know that we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.  Mama Ru’s is everything that you advertised it to be, and Wendy was so great.

Quite a few other couples traveled to Rarotonga also for the Wedding that we were there for, and most had some sort of problems from accommodation not being ready on arrival, airport transfers and cleaners never turning up, etc etc.  So I feel very lucky to have stayed somewhere so good with such good service and value for money.  I would definitely stay at Mama Ru’s next time I visit Rarotonga.

Mama Ru’s is located at one of the top beach and snorkeling locations, it was just beautiful.

many thanks

There is so much (or so little if that suits your taste) to do. The beach right off the porch makes it hard not to go snorkeling at every opportunity. The island with, diving, sport fishing, hiking has the most wonderful and relaxed atmosphere of anywhere I have been. The bungalow has everything I need; I usually find I haven’t even fully unpacked when it’s time to go. And the quick mart a short 200 meters down the road has anything else, including a wireless hotspot when I have to check in with work (which is best done with an ice cream cone or beer in one hand). I love the privacy and the quiet the most. All in all a wonderful place to spend holiday.

Beautiful, my wife refuses to go anywhere else for our next holiday. Thank you, you have real treasure!

Mama Ru’s, the perfect getaway for the independent traveler!
This place is perfect. I spent a month at Mama Ru’s and I felt like I was at home everything I needed was there and if it was not I really didn’t need it. The bungalows are nicely equipped for cooking witch I love to do with local products. The grocery is about a two minute walk and totally impressive the produce is grown right there at the store grounds, cooking with the fresh produce and seafood on the island was the best surprise. Love the fabulous restaurants all around the island.
As for the beach Wow! Mostly all to myself I was there in February. Snorkeling, snorkeling, ya and more snorkeling always something new out there.
The place is great, low key no fuss. Just don’t try to book in February because I am going back!

Thank you Mama Ru’s! Best holiday ever – I will definitely be back! Love the privacy, the beach, not to mention the hours in the water and not very far from anywhere you want to go; the bus that goes around and around the island makes it so easy. Thank you again for the perfect holiday.

I have spent several vacations at Mama Ru’s and can tell you for sure that it has undoubtedly the very best snorkeling in Rarotonga!  The lagoon right in front of the bungalow is 2-5 feet deep and full of coral heads, tropical fish, and warm water wonders.  I love it.  The bungalows are right at the water’s edge, have an outdoor shower to rinse the saltwater off, and a deck for lounging. And if you want even more, the Dive Centre is not far away for diving trips.  Rarotonga itself is a fun island, full of friendly people, lots of restaurant choices, and many miles of white, sandy beaches.  For stress-free vacationing, I LOVE Rarotonga and Mama Ru’s is perfect for “doing your own thing”.

This is a neat romantic place to stay if you are into enjoying each others company, reading, lazing about and not be tied down to any set agenda.  Jump on your motorbike and within 20 minutes you can be at any restaurant, cafe or snorkeling spot.  A telephone is in your bungalow so you can ring and book “the table with the view” or stay at home and have a romantic home cooked meal by your “man” or “wahine” on your own deck overlooking the lagoon.  Heaps of neat produce is just over the road at Wigmores.  this has to be one of Rarotanga’s best kept secrets.
